Celebrating a Decade of Hope and Recovery: OneCity for Recovery Marks 10th Anniversary

[Mason, Ohio, April 29, 2024] — OneCity for Recovery proudly announces its 10th anniversary, celebrating a decade of dedicated service to individuals battling substance abuse in Southwest Ohio. Since its founding on April 29, 2014, in response to the opioid epidemic, OneCity for Recovery has grown into a beacon of hope and a pathway to recovery for thousands of individuals and families affected by substance use disorders (SUD).

A Decade of Impact and Growth

Over the past decade, OneCity for Recovery has made significant strides in its mission to connect individuals with SUD to treatment and recovery services. The organization’s core program, The HopeLine, has been instrumental in breaking down barriers to treatment, offering personalized support, and fostering long-term recovery.

Key Achievements:

  • 50,000 interactions with over 11,000 individuals.

  • Successfully connected more than 3,000 individuals to treatment or recovery housing.

  • Maintained a 26% client receptivity rate, with over 40% success rate in connecting clients to treatment, surpassing the 5% national average.

  • Distributed 6,000+ hygiene kits and 15,000+ free meals to address clients' basic needs.

Breaking Down Barriers to Recovery

OneCity for Recovery addresses the complex and diverse barriers that prevent individuals from seeking help, such as gaining access to the front doors of SUD, stigma, fear, financial constraints, and lack of support. Through The HopeLine, the organization offers free services, including transportation, clothing, personalized support, and continued recovery care from dedicated Care Coordinators with lived or familial experience with SUD.

Collaborations and Community Engagement

OneCity for Recovery’s extensive collaborations have been pivotal in enhancing service delivery and community support. Key partnerships include:

  • Crossroads Church: Providing client household needs and outreach lunches.

  • Goodwill: Meeting client clothing needs.

  • Deaconess Foundation: Supporting our programs focused on low-income and disenfranchised individuals.

  • Interact for Health: Providing critical support that helps drive our program initiatives and impact in the community.

  • County Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Boards: Collaborating with local boards, such as the Butler County Mental Health Board and the Mental Health Recovery Board Serving Warren & Clinton Counties, to pilot innovative programs and secure funding for critical initiatives.

  • Honorable Judge Robert Peeler and Warren County Drug Recovery Court: Through a decade-long partnership, our Coordinators work closely with Judge Peeler’s drug recovery court to remove barriers that support clients’ successful completion of the program.

With these collaborative efforts, OneCity for Recovery connects clients with an extensive network of over 170 recovery service providers and 200 community organizations. Our active involvement in Quick Response Teams, probation and parole programs, jail outreach, drug recovery courts, and educational events strengthens our commitment to breaking down barriers and reducing the stigma around substance use disorders.

"Reflecting on the past ten years, we are humbled by the progress we've made and the lives we've touched. Our work is far from over, and we remain committed to breaking down barriers, reducing stigma, and walking alongside individuals throughout their recovery journey," said Kristie Hart, Executive Director at OneCity for Recovery.

As OneCity for Recovery celebrates this milestone, the organization looks forward to expanding its reach and impact through continued community collaboration, innovative approaches to treatment, and unwavering support for individuals battling substance abuse.
